Stokesian dynamics with odd viscosity

چکیده
Stokesian Dynamics is a well-established computational method for simulating dynamics of many particles suspended in conventional passive fluid medium such as water. Active fluids composed self-driving microscopic with broken time reversal symmetry permit the emergence so-called odd viscosity. In this work, we extended formalism to incorporate additional hydrodynamic effects due viscosity under simplified quasi-two-dimensional case. This demonstrates that can be generalized simulate collective behaviors an active both even and

Modeling hydrodynamic self-propulsion with Stokesian Dynamics. Or teaching Stokesian Dynamics to swim
We develop a general framework for modeling the hydrodynamic self-propulsion (i.e., swimming) of bodies (e.g., microorganisms) at low Reynolds number via Stokesian Dynamics simulations. The swimming body is composed of many spherical particles constrained to form an assembly that deforms via relative motion of its constituent particles. The resistance tensor describing the hydrodynamic interact...

A new Stokesian dynamics ~SD! algorithm for Brownian suspensions is presented. The implementation is based on the recently developed accelerated Stokesian dynamics ~ASD! simulation method @Sierou and Brady, J. Fluid Mech. 448, 115 ~2001!# for non-Brownian particles. As in ASD, the many-body long-range hydrodynamic interactions are computed using fast Fourier transforms, and the resistance matri...
متن کاملStokesian dynamics of close particles
Stokesian dynamics simulations of close particles are reported, taking into account lubrication forces and many-body hydrodynamic interactions between spheres. A periodic trajectory of three particles maintaining a permanent proximity to each other has been found and analyzed. This solution is used as a benchmark to study the accuracy and stability of various numerical integration schemes. In p...
متن کاملStokesian Dynamics simulation of Brownian suspensions
The non-equilibrium behaviour of concentrated colloidal dispersions is studied by Stokesian Dynamics, a general molecular-dynamics-like technique for simulating particles suspended in a viscous fluid. The simulations are of a suspension of monodisperse Brownian hard spheres in simple shear flow as a function of the Peclet number, Pe, which measures the relative importance of shear and Brownian ...
متن کاملOdd Viscosity Introduction and Summary of Results: Normally, One Associates Viscosity With
When time reversal is broken the viscosity tensor can have a non vanishing odd part. In two dimensions, and only then, such odd viscosity is compatible with isotropy. Allowing for odd viscosity leads to a generalization of the wave and Navier-Stokes equations. Elementary features of odd viscosity are examined by considering solutions of these equations for hypothetical fluids where the stress i...
